The following are strategies we are learning each day. Students can practice them at home and homework pages will be sent home based on the mastery level each student achieves.
Monday- 1.3- Understand place value/ 1.4-Expanded form
Tuesday-1.5- Different ways to write numbers
Wednesday- 1.6-Different names for numbers
Thursday- 2.4- Model 3-digit Numbers
Friday- Unit Quiz

Forming research clubs to read and discuss our growing ideas
Comprehension Skill: Text Features in a Non-fiction book - introduction of new text features
Review previous lessons on:
Main idea and Details
Features include: title, headings, labels, graphic features (pictures/charts), glossary
Theme/Moral: focusing on the underlying message, or 'big idea.'
We will also continue to review:
-Who? What? Where? When? Why? How?
-Authors purpose: Inform, Persuade, Entertain
-Cause and effect
Grammar: prefixes and suffixes
Phonics:

It is also greatly encouraged that students are spending time reading at home. To support their comprehension it is important to ask students about the books they read.

We will be doing opinion writing with a focus on science topics
We will also start working on our writing parts in the book we will be publishing!
We will be focusing on writing our sentences using RACE
R- Restate the question
A- answer the question
C- cite evidence
E- explain other reasons why!
Always write sentences with SWAG!
S- starts with a capital letter
W-written neatly
A- a space between each word
G- gets punctuation!
Science
We are starting to learn about life cycles and will explore the life cycle of a caterpillar. We will also read passages on many other animals life cycles

Social Studies
We will continue our unit on Citizens and government. Students are working on creating their own country.
